Green Street scheme under way

Work is now well under way on the 38-house Green Street scheme being delivered in The Meadows by Blueprint.
The £8 million development started on site in January, and the first 13 homes are due to be completed by autumn of this year, with final completion expected by spring 2011.
Built by Lovell and designed by Nottingham architects Marsh Grochowski, the three- and four-bedroom houses will reflect Blueprint’s high standards of design and sustainability.
The brownfield scheme is regarded as an important step in the planned regeneration and diversification of The Meadows.
An emphasis is being placed on the Green Street scheme becoming part of the existing community and the final design reflects residents’ priorities about access, which have been expressed in consultation.
Separate ambitious plans to encourage The Meadows to become a low-carbon community, including a large community-owned wind turbine, are already well advanced.
All of the Green Street homes will have ground-level court yards and large roof terraces while most will also have balconies and private car ports/garages for parking. Common sustainability features will include very high levels of insulation, roof top photovoltaic panels and maximum use of natural light.
